It was hard to be patient and to finish box #1 with out dipping into box #2. But, I wanted to eat them in order, and I stuck these containers in to the cupboard and let them wait.
First thing I tried was the Pear Tatin. The pears were soft and slightly chewy, and just perfect. The almond were simple and enjoyable. The yogurt covered sunflower seeds were ok, I didn't hate them but they also didn't do much for me. Lastly the raspberry infused cranberries were just ok, I would have liked plain cranberries much better. I set this one as "Like" because I did like it, but I didn't love it. It came in at 4 Weight Watchers points.
I than had the Wee Bonnie Oatbakes. I wanted to like these, I really did. The little oatbake crackers were really gritty to me, and I didn't like them at all on their own. As for the caramelized onion marmalade, it was way too oniony and over powering for me. I trashed this one. 3 WW points.
Next up I had the Walnut & Vanilla Truffle. It was delicious! The best was when I'd put a few different pieces together and eat them. The walnuts were perfect, and the vanilla pumpkin seeds were subtle but tasty. The raisins were soft and sweet. But the fudge pieces were the best! I set this one as "Love". 5 WW points.
Last was the Black Pepper Pistachios. I ended up eating these last because I thought they'd be nothing special. I was wrong. They were super tasty, and they black pepper really added a wonderful flavor to the nuts. When I was finished I was left wanting more! I set them as "Like", but I might en up changing it to "Love".
I have to admit, it's really hard not to sit down and eat all four containers that come in the Graze box. Really freakin' hard. But, I was able to restrain and I'm so glad I did!
My box was a little mangled from being the postal system for a few extra days, but all of the contents were just fine.
First thing I tried was the Salsa Fresca. The "sombreros" are thin little rice cakes with powdered cheese on them, but they just don't replace tortilla chips. I wasn't crazy about them. As for the salsa, it was a bit on the sweet side, and I wasn't real crazy about it. Over all it was just ok. I left it as a "Try". The one nice thing it that it only cost me 1 Weight Watchers point.
The Eleanor's Apple Crumble was an item I wasn't sure I would like. But as soon as I started eating it, I was in love! The Apples were chewy without being too chewy. The honey cinnamon coated almonds were sweet, crunchy, and delicious. And, even though I'm not much of a raisin lover, the raisins were plump and sweet, and very enjoyable. I marked this as a "Love", and can't wait to have this again! It came in at 3 WW points.
I was excited about the Chocolate Pretzels! But honestly, when it arrived the chocolate was gooey and kinda gross looking, and I kinda put off eat this one right away. That was a mistake on my part! The chocolate was gooey, but delicious! There was plenty of chocolate for the pretzels, and pretzels were nice and crunchy. I gave this one a "Like" and would be happy to get it again! Only 3 WW points.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Dark Rocky Road. I just knew I'd love this one, and I was so right! The contents were simple: Belgian chocolate buttons, pecans, and cranberries, all of my favorites in one place! I did end up breaking up the chocolate buttons to not gobble everything down quick, and to actually graze on it. It was a great treat for the end of the week. I set this snack as "Love". 5 WW points, and worth it if you have the points to spare.
Over all, I loved the contents of my first box, and can't wait to dive into my second!
This pattern has been in the works since May. Now I'll admit, I took a break from it several times because I wanted it to be just right, and other obligations came up. So I'm extremely excited to finally be able to release Frances the Sock Wearing Fox!
Her socks do come off. So if you're not in to putting clothing on your animals, they are completely optional.
I hope you all love Frances as much as I do! She's a fun quick knit, perfect for the holiday season!
A few weeks ago I told you about me signing up for snack boxes at Graze.com. I was really hoping that I would be able to blog about how much I loved them, and what a great thing it was, but I can't.
I signed up 3 weeks and 1 day ago, and the website states that I should have gotten my first 10 days after signing up. That did not happen. 16 days after signing up, other people who signed up the same day I did received their boxes, I did not. My box was marked as shipped by Saturday November 2nd (13 days after I signed up), and on day 18 after I checked the mail and still hadn't gotten my box, I email Graze.
Graze's response said that since I made changes to my shipment (I changed it from being shipped to my home to my PO Box) that is delayed it. Which they DO NOT tell you that making changes will delay your shipment, and I changed my info before the deadline that was on my delivery page. And, I was assured that my box would arrive no later than Saturday November 9th.
Once again, no box. I then let the person I had been emailing at Graze know that it didn't arrive on Saturday. Yesterday November 11th I got a response letting me know that it'll be late this week/early next week before my box will arrive. WHAT?!? That'll be 5 WEEKS after I sign up!
I did have my 2nd box moved up a week, and have already paid for it. Now I'm pissed. I was super excited about the service, and heard good things, but this has been nothing but a pain. I had my 2nd box moved up as soon as my 1st box shipped because I would rather have my boxes come every week instead of every other week, and it shouldn't be a problem if they give me that option right? Now I'm not so sure.
They don't give you a tracking number, so there's no way for my to know where my box could possibly be. I feel completely blown off now. They did add an extra free box to my account, which does me no good if I can't even get my first free box to arrive.
This is my first subscription box service, and more than likely my last. It's been a crappy experience to say the least. I have asked when the box will be considered lost, and couldn't get a direct answer. I'm going to give it until Monday, November 18 when it will be a full 5 weeks, and if my boxes don't show up I will cancel.
I'll keep you updated!
*** UPDATE! ***
So it pays to have a friend at the post office!
I got a call that both of my Graze boxes come into the PO this afternoon! But, they were getting ready to close. But, my friend said if I got there before she left to just knock on the door and she'd bring them to the door for me! So technically I wasn't supposed to have my boxes until tomorrow, but my friend knew I was desperately waiting for them.
Both boxes have a tracking number on them. Why Graze couldn't provide that number to their customers is beyond me. So when I typed in the tracking numbers online, I quickly noticed that my first box shipped 5 days later than the website indicated. While both boxes came on the same day, the 2nd box was actually on time, only the 1st box was late. Also, box #1 was a bit mangled.
I'm feeling a bit better since posting the above post. Hopefully all future boxes will be on time, and I can enjoy the contents. I really want to like the Graze boxes, and will give each box an honest review in the upcoming days. I will give a full review of each box as I eat my way through them, in order that they were supposed to arrive.
Last night a friend posted on social media that she joined Graze, which is a subscription box snack service. I've never been interested in a subscription box before, and I know there's tons of them out there, but the thing that hooked me is that you get to pick what you get! And best of all, your 1st and 5th boxes are FREE! You can also cancel at anytime.
For $6 every 2 or 4 weeks (you get to choose!) you get 4 snacks delivered to your mail box. And yes, that $6 includes the shipping! Immediately I went through and marked anything spicy, that had pineapple or mango, or that had more than 165 calories (with the exception of 2 items) as "Trash" -meaning I'll never be sent those items.
There's 2 types of boxes- the Nibbler Box and the Light Box. The Light Box's snack are all 150 calories or less. Originally I had signed up for the Light Box, but after looking at the nutrition facts of all the other items, some that I was interested in were 157-163 calories. Since I'm doing Weight Watchers items up to 165 calories have the same point value as a 150 calorie item. So, I switched to the Nibbler Box to have more a selection, and "Trashed" all of the really high calorie items. I can always go in and add back anything I "Trashed" if I want.
The most exciting thing to me is the chance to try new things! I've been trying to find good tasting, healthy snacks. The problem is that they can be expensive, or I buy them and don't like them and I'm stuck with a pricey bag of stuff I end up not eating. I feel like I've been in a snack rut, and I'm hoping this will be the answer to my problem.
I can't wait to get my first Graze box!! I wish it would be here tomorrow! I'll let you know what I think as I eat the snacks from my first box (which is FREE!).
Interested in joining Graze? It's by invitation only right now, but I have 3 Friend Codes up for grabs, first come first serve. I'll let you know when I get more!
I'm in no way sponsored by Graze, this is something I decided to try on my own ;o)
When I was designing these little guys, there was no one name to describe them all. They all had their very own personalities, and therefore I could not give the pattern a singular name. As they sat together on my kitchen table, they looked as if they were little orphaned blobs wanting a new home. The name Adopt a Blob Monster became the official name for the pattern.
I had a lot of fun when it came to assembling the blobs! I tried to show many different ways to make each one stand out. There's just no wrong way to make one!
And then something hit me! How cute would it be to make a GHOST blob! By using white yarn, it makes the perfect Halloween stuffie!
I've been all excited to share my newest pattern! It just says summer and fun! Susan the Social Crab is sure to take your summer to the next level with her cuteness. She's a lovable, socal crab ready to meet new people and have a good time!
Variegated or solid Susan can rock whatever yarn you choose!
I'm so excited to share with you my very first shawl design Moondance!
I decided I wanted to design a pattern with all of the elements that I love: lace, short pattern repeats, fingering weight, and most of all crescent shaped. I really stepped outside of my comfort zone of toys, and it quite the labor of love.
It ended up being everything I dreamed of and more! I hope you all love it as much as I do!
A huge thank you to Michelle of Dancing Dog Dyeworks for making my yarn dream come true for coming up with this beautiful color for me and providing yarn support.
Mario the Artistic Rabbit is the newest of my patterns! He is available on Ravelry and Craftsy.
He was was designed in memory of my DD's rabbit that passed at the end of last year. She wanted to have a stuffed bunny to snuggle with whenever she was missing her Mario. I made him "artistic" after my DD's love of art.
Mario is the perfect addition to any stuffie collection, so go knit yours now!
She was a club shipment for the Dancing Dog Dyeworks last yarn club, and now I get to share her with everyone! She has a special place in my heart, the yarn was named after yours truly, and she celebrates my love for all things aquatic.
In the last couple weeks it was time to get new glasses. I found once I loved at the eye Dr's but boy were they pricey! I ordered them but then had the thought of thinking maybe they won't go with everything I wear.
I then remembered someone online mentioning that they ordered glasses from Coastal.com, and best of all their first pair was free! As soon as I started looking, there were many frames that I loved! Not all of them qualified for the first free pair, but most of them did.
I had gotten my prescription from my optometrist the day of my eye exam, and putting in my info was easy. But, when my glasses arrived 5 days later (3 business days) I put them on and immediately knew something wasn't right! I looked at the packing slip, and realized I put the perception in wrong for the left eye! I accidentally put a number as a "+" instead of "-". UGH!
I immediately called Coastal and the lady at the other end of the line was super nice and helpful! Even though it was my mistake, they let my return the glasses. For free! Then they lady fixed my prescription blunder, and placed an order for a new pair, still letting me use the First Free Pair offer! I'd give Coastal's customer service an A+.
So, 5 days (3 business days) later my new glasses arrived, again, and here what comes in the box:
You get a nice hard shell case, glasses cleaner, cleaning cloth, and a keychain screwdriver that has a flat end and philips- just incase you need to tighten your glasses down the road.
Since you are ordering your glasses you need to know what size you need. Luckily after trying glasses on at the Dr's I knew that 49 mm frames would be a bit too small, and that I would need 51 mm frames. I was nervous if the from would fit and be comfortable, and they were! I love how they fit!
Another great thing about Coastal.com is their "Change the View Project" for every purchased pair of glasses, they give a pair to a person in need! Just another reason to buy from them!
I'll be buying more glasses from Coastal in the future, and I highly recommend you give them a try. You can also order contacts and sunglasses!
